PolyEdge Daily #8 — March 13, 2026
"Friday the 13th: Oscar Eve + Iran Confirmation + Pre-FOMC Playbook"GM. It's Friday the 13th. Superstition or not, this is the most loaded weekend of our portfolio's life. Three things happened in the last 24 hours that change everything:
1. Michigan Consumer Sentiment cratered — preliminary March read came in at 67.4 vs 72.0 expected. Inflation expectations surged to 4.1%. The consumer is spooked.
2. Iran officially confirmed Mojtaba Khamenei as Supreme Leader — the Assembly of Experts announced the succession Sunday, exactly as the 97¢ market predicted. Our Iran Regime NO position just got complicated.
3. Best Actor is a COIN FLIP — MBJ and Chalamet are locked at 47¢/47¢ on Polymarket with 48 hours to showtime. This is unprecedented.
The portfolio is about to resolve two major positions in the next 5 days. Let's break it all down.

🎯 Today's Plays — 4 Trade Recommendations
TRADE 1: Oscar Best Actor — MBJ YES @ 47¢
Fair Value: 55¢ | Expected Edge: +17% | Conviction: ⭐⭐⭐⭐The market just moved to a dead 47/47 split. That's wrong. Here's why:
The SAG → Oscar pipeline is the single strongest predictor in awards history. The SAG Best Actor winner has won the Oscar 73% of the time over the last 30 years. Jordan won SAG. He also has the backing of Sinners' 16 nominations — the most of any film. Chalamet's late press blitz (GQ cover, Tonight Show appearance) doesn't change ballots already cast. The 47¢ price implies a coin flip. Historical data says it's closer to 55-60¢. We're HOLDING our position at 44.5¢ entry and recommend buying the dip.
- Entry: 47¢ (YES)
- Target: 100¢ (resolves Sunday March 15)
- Stop: N/A — binary resolution
- Payoff if right: +113% from current, +125% from our entry
---
TRADE 2: Fed March No Change YES @ 98.5¢ — HOLD to Resolution
Fair Value: 99¢ | Expected Edge: +0.5% | Conviction: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐The hot PPI shook this to 98.5¢ but it's noise. The Michigan Sentiment collapse actually HELPS this trade — weak consumer = no reason to hike. The FOMC resolves Wednesday March 18. This is 98.5¢ → ~100¢ in 5 days. Free carry.
- Entry: 98¢ (our position)
- Target: 100¢
- Resolution: March 18 (FOMC)
- Risk: Black swan only. Near-lock.
---
TRADE 3: Oil $110 March YES — UPGRADED CONVICTION
Fair Value: 78-82¢ | Expected Edge: +12-18% | Conviction: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐This is our best trade and it's getting better. Oil hit $98.50 overnight. Hormuz remains locked shut at 97.25¢ probability through March. PPI energy came in +3.7%. Michigan inflation expectations surged to 4.1%. Every data point confirms the thesis.
Our entry at 56¢ is now sitting at approximately 72¢ — that's +28.6% unrealized. We're upgrading conviction to MAX and raising our target to 82-88¢.
- Current price: ~72¢
- Entry: 56¢ (our position)
- Fair value: 82¢
- P&L: +28.6% 🟢
---
TRADE 4: 🆕 Fed April 25bps Cut YES — NEW POSITION @ 12¢
Fair Value: 18-22¢ | Expected Edge: +50-83% | Conviction: ⭐⭐⭐Here's the play nobody's talking about. Michigan Sentiment just collapsed. Consumer confidence is tanking. If the March FOMC acknowledges economic weakness (which the data now demands), the April cut probability reprices HARD.
Current price: 12¢. Market says 12% chance of an April cut. But if Michigan Sentiment confirms a consumer slowdown and the March dot plot shows ANY dovish shift, this reprices to 20-25¢ easily. That's a 70-100% return on a 12¢ ticket.
- Entry: 12¢ (YES)
- Target: 20-25¢
- Stop: 6¢
- Catalyst: FOMC March 18 dot plot + Powell presser

KEY NARRATIVE:
Oil is carrying the portfolio. +28.6% unrealized on a single trade masks the BTC disaster (-40.3%). The good news: TWO positions resolve in the next 5 days — Oscar Sunday and FOMC Wednesday. By this time next week, we'll have hard P&L on 3 of our 6 positions.

🔥 Spicy Take: "The Fed Is Going to Pivot Faster Than Anyone Expects"
Everyone's focused on inflation. PPI was hot. Oil is ripping. CPI will be hotter in March. The hawk narrative is dominant.
But look at what the consumer is saying. Michigan Sentiment just cratered to 67.4 — that's a 15-month low. Inflation expectations spiked to 4.1%, but actual spending is collapsing. When you have rising prices AND falling demand, that's not an inflationary boom — that's stagflation. The Fed doesn't hike into stagflation. They've done it exactly once (Volcker, 1980) and it caused a recession. Powell isn't Volcker. He's going to see the Michigan data, see the consumer cracking, and pivot to cuts faster than the dot plot suggests.
The market prices one cut in 2026. I think we get two — and the first one comes in June, not September. That's why the April Cut at 12¢ is such a good lottery ticket. Even if April doesn't deliver, the June meeting at ~15¢ is going to reprice violently once the March data cycle confirms the consumer slowdown.
Contrarian conviction: HIGH. This isn't a hot take for fun — it's a positioned trade backed by macro data.---
🏆 Weekend Preview — What Resolves When
| Date | Event | Portfolio Impact |
|---|---|---|
| Sun Mar 15 | 🎬 98th Academy Awards | MBJ trade resolves → potential +125% |
| Mon Mar 16 | Pre-FOMC positioning begins | Rate markets reprice |
| Tue-Wed Mar 17-18 | 🏛️ FOMC + Powell presser | Fed trade resolves + dot plot repricing |
| Thu Mar 19 | Post-FOMC fallout | New trade setups emerge |

⚡ Bottom Line
The portfolio is at +4.2% — our best level ever — heading into the most catalytic weekend possible. Oil is printing money (+28.6%). Oscars resolve Sunday. The Fed resolves Wednesday. And we just opened a new position on the April cut at 12¢ because the consumer data says the hawks are wrong.
By Wednesday night, we'll have hard numbers on 3 resolved positions. No ambiguity. No moving goalposts. Just receipts.

Tomorrow: Oscar Eve Final Preview — last-minute odds movement, ballot analysis, and our final conviction read. That's it for Day 8. We don't predict the future — we find where the market is wrong. And when WE'RE wrong, we tell you first. — PolyEdge---
